Melinda Tuan Consulting

Bio

I am an independent consultant who partners with the senior leadership of philanthropic organizations to help them be more effective. Since 2003, I’ve had the pleasure of working with great organizations including The Center for High Impact Philanthropy, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, The Bridgespan Group, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, and the Eagles Youth Partnership, the philanthropic arm of the Philadelphia Eagles Football Team.

From 1997 to 2003, I had the privilege of co-founding and managing REDF, a social venture capital fund that works with a portfolio of nonprofit organizations employing formerly homeless and low-income individuals in market-based business ventures. Prior to REDF, I was a manager at a national healthcare nonprofit and a management consultant. I also co-founded Boston Cares and helped start-up a social-mission driven company called Dayspring Technologies in San Francisco. I currently serve on the Board of Managers of Evergreen Lodge in Yosemite and the Advisory Council for REDF.

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and attended Punahou School, graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude with an AB in Social Studies focusing on urban poverty and homelessness and loved getting my MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I live in the “big heart, small town” of Narberth, Pennsylvania with my husband, three children, a handful of fish and a family of wild bunnies.
